Neighbors Month is the season when ÎntreVecini and Cărturești celebrate summer with a curated bookshelf of books about neighbors, apartment buildings, neighborhoods, and the cities where we choose to live together.
ÎntreVecini is Romania’s largest community-building organization, active in 100 communities across 32 cities. It is built on a belief we are all aware of, yet few put into practice: together, communities can achieve more than individuals acting alone.
By 2050, nearly 70% of the world’s population will live in cities. The more people share urban spaces, the more important it becomes how we live together in the places we call home.
The European Net Zero Cities programme and the M100 initiative show that the transition to healthier, cleaner, and more resilient cities cannot happen without neighbors who know one another, collaborate, and make decisions together at the neighborhood level. Major change is built locally—often starting right in an apartment building.
If you’d like to learn how to build a healthier community where you live, explore ÎntreVecini’s projects and subscribe to the newsletter at intrevecini.ro.
Until then, we invite you to explore the theme through the books selected by us and by the neighbors from the communities we work with.
